Hosting the 95th TAS Annual Meeting Oct 25-27- It was a privilege for the entire CoBALT team to co-host this year’s Texas Archeological Society Meeting in Victoria in late October, with our partners the Museum of the Coastal Bend, and of course, TAS. Our deepest thanks go to Jamie Ross and Isabel Arana from TAS who provided the logistical support and experience that allowed our local planning committee to host such an event. We also thank Sue Prudhomme, Claudia Mosley and the entire staff at the Museum of the Coastal Bend for all their work and for hosting two events at the museum; and to the staff of the Emerging Technology Complex that hosted most of the meeting presentations, keynote speakers and meals. We also got very valuable help from Frank, Geoff and Bob from the Houston Archeology Society.
There were 288 archeologists who registered for the meeting that featured more than 100 presentations on archeology research, archeology projects and archeology technology. The vendor spaces at the meeting were sold out and we heard positive comments about the affordability of Victoria hotels. The post-meeting tour to 41VT11 and 41VT141 were completely sold out too.
Hosting any event with almost 300 registrants is a lot of work but the event was a huge success. Please enjoy the photographs from the annual meeting that are posted below.
